Media Journey® is an event marketing company whose mission is to help your event gain as much public exposure you desire! We offer service support in public and media relations, brand marketing, copy editing and writing, and project management.

  • Print Media (newspaper/magazine ads; journalistic-style articles for publications; press releases; feature stories, etc.)

  • Electronic Media (television & radio ad scripts; DVD scripts)

  • Publications (magazines, journals, newsletters, etc.)

  • Marketing collaterals (brochures, postcards, Out of Home ads, Web, etc.)

  • Press Release and media advisory creation, and dissemination to various local and national media

  • Media story pitching and interview set-up

  • Attend and support front-end collaboration (planning meetings, site walk-thru, etc.)

  • Provide interview (talking points, scripts, etc.) and set preparation (props, ensure proper lighting, backdrops are properly assimilated, etc.)

WHERE IT ALL STARTED

With an abundance of passion for marketing, writing, story-telling, and journalism, Cortney H. Wilson, an award-winning journalist, founded her own event marketing company, Media Journey®.

Prior to Media Journey®, Cortney worked 3 ½ years in the Office of Marketing and Communications at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU). Her roles and responsibilities ranged from overseeing all copy writing and editing services for all marketing and PR collaterals, assisting the chief marketing officer with managing media projects and marketing campaigns, as well as project managing multimedia projects (i.e. producing TV spots, DVDs and pod casts). She also served as editor in chief of major publications like the Chancellor’s Annual Report and the alumni magazine, Archway. Her ending title was as the interim associate director of the Office of Marketing and Communications.

Prior to her work at WSSU, Cortney worked as a journalist for six years, working at various newspapers in North Carolina and Florida. Her ending stint was at the Salisbury Post newspaper in Salisbury, NC where she served as the Health and Human Services reporter, and a columnist for 3 ½ years. Prior to the Salisbury Post, (and soon after graduating college) Cortney was chosen as 1 of 17 top journalism students in the country, and received a fellowship to continue her studies at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Winston-Salem State University and graduated cum laude in 2001.
